Sarah Palin: American Idiot

Sarah Palin. Love her or hate her this woman has made a splash in the media. There are whispers of this woman possibly running for President in 2012. This intrigues me and I have decided to read up on Sarah to see where she stands.

Sarah Palin was born in Sandpoint, Idaho and her family relocated to Alaska when she was an infant. In 1984 Palin was named Miss Wasilla and placed third in the Miss Alaska pageant. Sarah college hopped and finally received her bachelor's degree in communications with an emphasis in journalism in 1987 from University of Idaho.

After graduating college she went on to become a sportscaster in Anchorage and eloped in 1988 to Todd Palin. She "helped" her husband with his fishing business before deciding to run for Wasilla City Council. (1992-1995) Palin then became the Mayor of Wasilla (1996-2002). She campaigned for Lieutenant Governor and came in second to Loren Leman. In 2003 then Governor Frank Murkowski appointed Palin to the "Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission" which oversees oil and gas fields in Alaska for safety and efficiency. (Palin had little background in the oil industry at the time.) Palin was also one of three directors of "Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc."; (June 2003-June 2005) a 527 group that provides political training to Republican women in Alaska. In 2006, Palin became Governor of Alaska. She was the youngest person and first woman to become Governor of the state.

Palin's time as Governor was riddled with investigations. She promoted oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including drilling in the "artic national wildlife refuge." She wanted to cut down on the wolf population so in 2007 Palin offered hunters a $150 per wolf bounty. Activists sued and a judge declared the bounty illegal.

Palin used her veto power in 2007 to cut $237 million in construction (300 local projects). In 2008 Palin declared that the people of Alaska needed to develop state economy and not rely heavily on federal funding. Alaska went on to remain the largest per-capita recipient of federal earmarks ($750 million in 2 years). She dismissed the Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan on July 11, 2008 citing "not being a team player" and "egregious rogue behavior". In October 2008 the "Branchflower Report" was released which found Palin had "abused her power as governor and violated the state's Executive Branch Ethics Act."

What does Palin believe (or not)?

"Obama Care" will have "death panels" and is evil. Right? Well then why, Sarah, do you allow your grandson to be on "big government" health care welfare? (baby Tripp has socialized health care through Indian Health Services and The Alaska Native Medical Center.) Palin is so against socialized health care and pro big money making health care that she jumped over to Canada for health care.

Sarah says politicians spend too much and make too much. Is that why she accepted $16,951 "reimbursement" per diem travel allowance as governor? Or how about that $43,490 in travel expenses for her family? Mind you this was all on the taxpayers dime.

Palin thinks global warming is a myth. She believes it will cost jobs if we invest in green energy. What she meant to say is that it will perhaps cost her husband Todd his job with BP.

Sarah Palin doesn't like strong, independent free thinking women. She is against abortion 100%. She even said that if her daughter were a rape victim who became impregnated then she would encourage her daughter to carry the baby. She doesn't believe birth control should be available and she thinks sex-ed should disappear from schools. While Governor, Palin even made rape victims pay for their own rape kits.

Sarah Palin would make a terrible President. She may be attractive, but she severely lacks in the intelligence department. She writes "cheat notes" on her hand, can't name one single newspaper or magazine she reads, doesn't know of a supreme court case she disagrees with other than Roe v. Wade, had no clue what the Constitutional role of the Vice President was and claimed to be schooled in foreign policy because she could "see Russia" from her house. This woman is so attached to her wacky ideas and her Christian Bible loving faith that she wants to take away rights, stunt technology and medical advances and set this country down the wrong path.

Go back to Alaska Palin! You have shown you are a hypocrite, liar and a quitter. (Resigning her Governor position 18 months before the term was over). "Don't tread on me"!
