Over the past few days, while surfing a popular social network site, I have come across this post:

Salary of the US President. ..$400,000.

Well, I of course started looking things up and thinking- Why do we pay our politicians so much? Some people tell me it's to keep corruption out of government, others say it's to attract the brightest minds.

I believe politicians should make no more than double the federal minimum wage. ($7.25/hr) Why? Well, because I think our politicians are way out of touch with the average American. Corruption exists already in our government, why not try something different?

The Fox News "Fear and Smear" Mantra

It's long been known to anyone with half a brain that Fox News and their comrades manipulate and distort facts solely for financial and political gain. When there aren’t any facts to twist, Fox News and Co. will just make them up, as needed. I read an interesting article on the Long History of Race-Baiting at Fox News which helped spur my writing today.

Many of us get our news from a variety of outlets: radio, TV, internet, newspapers, and magazines. All of which, at some point, have spelled out in explicit detail the blatant accounts of the lying liars at Fox News. These hosts include, but not limited to: Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Glenn Beck. We should add Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh because they are certainly not exempt here. Also, let’s not forget to include Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes themselves. They are, after all, the masterminds behind the "Fear and Smear" mantra at Fox News.

South Dakota: Leading the Charge to Ban Abortion

Abortion.

As of right now, abortions are legal in all 50 states due to the 1973 ruling by the Supreme Court on Roe v. Wade. “Jane Roe” was Norma McCorvey, a young, pregnant woman in Texas without the means or funds to access an abortion. Wade was Henry B. Wade, the district attorney of Dallas County, TX. The Supreme Court decided that a woman, with her doctor, could choose abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without restriction and with restrictions in later months, based on the rights to privacy. They concluded that abortion was a right that the government could not take away due to their interpretation of the ninth amendment. The ninth amendment states “The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.”
