Do Conservatives Lack Critical Thinking Skills?

In my opinion, yes.  In an unscientific study (conducted by yours truly),  it has been theorized that the farther right one leans, the more one loses their critical thinking abilities. On numerous occasions I have  attempted to have a debate with a conservative. The following is the most recent example of an attempted debate with a  tea party member from my home town, Rockford, IL.  I should have realized it was very unfair of me to have a battle of wits with an unarmed individual.

While on a social network site, a friend of mine posted a comment made by her Rockford Tea group.  The comment, in it's entirety read:

Again: Bill O'Reilly Distorts Facts and Truth

Recently on his show, Bill O'Reilly' expressed this about the Buffet Rule: "If the Buffet Rule is passed and millionaires have to pay more in taxes then they will invest less than they do now." This is the kind of misrepresentation of his opinion as fact is a primary example of why most FOX News viewers are more misinformed than other viewers of like networks. Where does Bill O'Reilly come up with this? Why would he make this up when he knows there is no proof of this? What could be his motivation? Perhaps he can convince his gullible audience to lower his taxes. After-all, that is what works best for him (even though it hurts the majority of his audience not to mention the US economy).

Time for the UN-distorted facts, from Bloomberg News:

Global investors overwhelmingly support President Barack Obama’s proposed tax increase for those earning annual incomes of $1 million or more in an effort to reduce the deficit.

Doesn't sound like investors want to back-off at all, instead they think this will encourage more investing from the uber wealthy. Wait, the story continues...

Another Day, Another Lie: Bill O'Rielly Threatens to Quit if...

O'Reilly warned his audience on his Monday(9-19) show that, "if Barack Obama begins taxing me more than 50 percent, which is very possible, I don't know how much longer I'm going to do this."

Lawrence O'Donnell scoffed on his Tuesday show at Bill O'Reilly's threat to end his cable news program if his taxes are raised.

O'Donnell gave some background to set up his argument. He also begin with informing his audience that Congress, not Obama, holds the power of taxation, and that O'Reilly should have mentioned that body in his resignation threat. "O'Reilly has to lie about everything in that statement in order to make it credible to his audience, whose gullibility he has precisely calculated in the lies that he's loaded into that sentence," he said.
