Missouri Senator Cunningham Doesn’t Care About Kids

State Senator Jane Cunningham wants to weaken the child labor law in Missouri. Why? Well according to her; current restrictions are “implying that the government can make a better decision than a parent."

Current Missouri law bars regular employment of children younger than 14 -- except in specific professions such as acting -- and imposes strict restrictions on employed children age 14 and 15, including the hours they are allowed to work. Children age 14 and 15 must obtain signed permits from the school they attend.

Cunningham said that she believes it's improper to saddle schools with the responsibility of deciding whether a child younger than 16 should be allowed to work. She also says that many parents and their children already are violating the state's current labor laws, which she says are "so over the top'' and prevent parents from "teaching a work ethic to their children."

Here is the bill’s official summary:

Michigan Republicans Keeping the Batshit Craze Alive

Have ya heard? Republican Michigan governor Rick Snyder, along with the state's Republican house and senate, have passed a controversial bill that allows the governor to dissolve the elected governments of Michigan's towns and cities, replacing them with unaccountable "emergency financial managers" who can eliminate services, merge or eliminate school boards, and lay off or renegotiate unionized public employees without recourse. Republican senator Jack Brandenburg -- who supported the measure -- calls it "financial martial law."

Local governments are subject to electoral recall by residents, these “managers” who the governor appoints will only have to answer to the state legislature. The “managers” will be able to govern as they see fit.

WHAT!?!?! Seriously?! How….undemocratic!

Governor Walker VS. Wisconsin Unions

I proudly stand behind the people of Wisconsin and the “Wisconsin 14”. The Wisconsin 14 refers to the 14 democrat senators that have fled the state. The Dems fled in order to prevent a quorum in the Senate, and thus are preventing a vote on the Governor’s financial legislation. The Senate Majority leader has several times sent WI State Troopers to their homes, to bring them to the Senate floor, and thus satisfy the quorum requirements.
