Lower Politician Wages

Over the past few days, while surfing a popular social network site, I have come across this post:

Salary of the US President. ..$400,000.
Salary of retired US Presidents ...$180,000.
Salary of House/Senate...$174, 000.
Salary of Speaker of the House...$223,500...
Salary of Majority/Minority Leaders... $193,400...
Average Salary of Soldier DEPLOYED IN IRAQ $38,000...
I think we found where the cuts should be made! If you agree, repost

Well, I of course started looking things up and thinking- Why do we pay our politicians so much? Some people tell me it's to keep corruption out of government, others say it's to attract the brightest minds.

I believe politicians should make no more than double the federal minimum wage. ($7.25/hr) Why? Well, because I think our politicians are way out of touch with the average American. Corruption exists already in our government, why not try something different?

Responsiblity & "Sharing The Burden" of The Budget Crisis

Whenever someone looks at a budget crisis at any given moment, it’s easy to point to “cut spending, raise revenue” and say it's the best and most fair solution. While, on the surface, this is a great way to compromise and “move forward”, and it usually is... just not this time.

I have always had a problem with the idiocy of some people who forget or ignore the past. If you remind these people whom was responsible for “spilling the milk”, their reply is usually something like: “We need to focus on the current issue at hand.” or “You are just trying to point the finger.” Then they quickly want to move to a “fair” compromise. What I think is “fair” is: whomever “makes the mess, cleans it up”. How many times does your child have to spill the milk, before you take direct control of the milk-carton away? Same thing with the budget.

The Fox News "Fear and Smear" Mantra

It's long been known to anyone with half a brain that Fox News and their comrades manipulate and distort facts solely for financial and political gain. When there aren’t any facts to twist, Fox News and Co. will just make them up, as needed. I read an interesting article on the Long History of Race-Baiting at Fox News which helped spur my writing today.

Many of us get our news from a variety of outlets: radio, TV, internet, newspapers, and magazines. All of which, at some point, have spelled out in explicit detail the blatant accounts of the lying liars at Fox News. These hosts include, but not limited to: Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, and Glenn Beck. We should add Alex Jones and Rush Limbaugh because they are certainly not exempt here. Also, let’s not forget to include Rupert Murdoch and Roger Ailes themselves. They are, after all, the masterminds behind the "Fear and Smear" mantra at Fox News.
